Rodrigo Rufino and Gisela Passi are a young couple of tango dancers and teachers. Born in Argentina, together they have developed a dance style that they teach in a dynamic and engaging way. They transmit the techniques, aesthetics and sensibility of a dance renewed by their youth but which preserves the essence and symbolism of traditional tango. They have performed and taught courses in France, Spain, Germany, Poland, Ukraine and the United States.
Rodrigo was 14 at the time of his first tango exhibition in Buenos Aires and had just turned 18 when he went on his first professional tour to Japan. He studied the art and technique of this dance with great masters and milongueros such as Pepito Avellaneda, Rodolfo Cieri and Miguel Angel Zotto, participating in exhibitions in some of the mythical milongas of Buenos Aires (Sunderland, Sin Rumbo, Almagro, Akarense, Glorias Argentinas, among others) and in numerous shows in Argentina, Brazil, Spain, Italy and Japan with his sister Rebeca. In 2005 Rodrigo embarked on a new project in Paris combining his strong tango views, experience and innate elegance with Gisela’s artistic and creative pedagogy. Gisela took her first tango steps in Buenos Aires at the age of 16 and when she finished her university studies decided to embrace tango professionally. Rodrigo has always been her tango mentor.
Rodrigo and Gisela delight audiences with their refined, gentle and thorough performance, enhanced by their strong personalities and a wink of complicity. In their courses and workshops they are able to instil the essence of legendary tango with fresh and dynamic teaching techniques, focusing on the style of the traditional milongas of Buenos Aires. In their classes, natural, sober, elegant, virtuous and harmonious dancing acquires a new dimension without deserting the codes, values and rituals of tango as a popular dance and social phenomenon.
